Mealtime Monday: Potato Pastry in Istanbul

Vegetarian at Sabiha Gokcen Airport Istanbul

I think I’ve mentioned before that I’m visiting Peru this summer and American Airlines won’t accommodate my vegetarian diet on that route (via Dallas – Fort Worth).  Hopefully there is delicious, affordable vegetarian food at the Dallas – Forth Worth airport, like there is at the Sabiha Gokcen Airport in Istanbul.  Simit Sarayi is a chain of tea and pastry shops found in a number of Turkish cities, and airports apparently!  As a vegetarian in Istanbul I was able to have a delicious potato-filled pastry and a cup of Turkish tea before boarding my flight to Dalaman and the Turkish Coast (where equally delicious vegetarian food awaited!).

If you want to create delicious pastries- along with other Turkish street foods- at home, pre-order the upcoming Street Foods of Turkey.
